Board Meeting Minutes  

WIND SYMPHONY BOARD MEETING MINUTES

Meeting called to order by President Matt Anderson at 12:00pm.

Present: Tom Poshak, Kirk Wallace, Bette Welch, Mary Hansen, Larry Hansen, Pam Presgrave, Dan Presgrave, David Zar, Matt Anderson, Andrea Clark, Susan Bubb, Stacie Laff-Danahy, and Gary Brandes.

Not present: Jared Spears, James Cochran, Roger Frederickson, Scott Friesen, George Haman, Larry Hansen, Mike Swoboda.

Old Business:

1. Dan Presgrave moved and Larry Hansen seconded a motion to

approve the minutes of the January13 meeting. Motion passed.

2. Bette Welch went over the Treasurer’s Report and reported $7,100

in the T. Rowe Price account, $3,556.00 in the National City account designated for the Sam Goldstein fund, and net assets of $5,666.

3. Dan Presgrave moved and David Zar seconded a motion to approve

the Treasurer’s Report. Motion Passed.

New Business:

1. We want to remain at Kirkwood High School so will roll over the

Sunday, March 2, 2008

$500.00 deposit for the theatre to Kirkwood to continue. Tom Poshak will talk to Kirkwood and let them know our intentions.

2. Web-hosting company update: Matt Anderson reported that nothing

has changed with this situation. Will continue to look into it, but the Board will probably have to write-off the expense.

3. Harley Raffle: If we want to advertise this raffle for t he

summer concert series, we need to have this planned by May 1.

4. iPod Raffle: Will hold this raffle at the March 16 concert.

5. Touhill Concert on March 13: Need program information and

seating chart. UMSL will print the program. Will have a membership table in the main lobby.

6. March 16 Gala Concert: Expenses include $500 to Carolbeth True,

$450 for the other three members of her group ($150 each), and $200 for the harpist. David Zar motioned to approve these expenses and Andrea Clark seconded the motion. Motion passed. Will have a moment of silence and then play Amazing Grace in honor of the tragedy of the Kirkwood shootings and will play His Honor in dedication to Mayor Mike Swoboda. Will record the concert. Susan Bubb will make copies of the recording for the mayor and Kirkwood City Hall.

7. Commissioned piece: we have $3478 in hand plus pledges of

another $2000. Have raised our target goal to $20,000. Will earmark $10,000 for the commissioned piece. Will also look into government funding, grants etc. Will begin looking at composers.

Committee Updates:

1. Board needs to look at Bylaws and see if they need to be amended

or revised.

2. Board needs to schedule a recording.

3. Board memberships are expiring, we need to install the new

Board.

Next meeting: Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 5:00pm at Kirkwood High School in the Lecture Hall. Susan Bubb will obtain the space.

Meeting adjourned at 12:50pm.
